Tips for collecting badges
Although collecting Pin or Lapel badges is not as glamorous as the collection of gold sovereigns, and the amassed collection may never be as valuable as an earthenware plate assortment, it will still give you years of enjoyment, and a sentimental set which will fill you with fond memories whenever you look at it.
These small badges are available everywhere – they have s small spike out the back, on which a tiny clip is placed. Available in massive range of colors and styles, and produced all over the world, it’s no wonder so many have chosen to collect these badges for a hobby.
What To Collect.
When getting started with a badge collection – Most collectors will try to acquire badges from locations they have visited – almost all popular tourist locations and visitors centres will produce their own badges for people to buy. This is a great way to start a collection – and over the years, will allow you to look back at the places you have been and seen.
What To Avoid.
Some people will try to stick to a particular brand or style of badge, this will limit the ability to collect, and in the long run, will not add any value to your collection. Try to think of the hobby as just that – a way for you to enjoy your time, and accumulate a set of items purely for your own enjoyment.
Expensive Collections.
As will all hobbies, some people choose to purchase expensive limited addition items, in an attempt to finish a set, or add value to their album. If you have the money, and you believe an expensive badge will make you happy, then by all means, purchase the badge – but never buy an item if you do not like it, only to add value, as in the end, you will be very unlikely to sell your collection.
